Businessman who confessed to shooting garbage collector has fascination for guns, says PC

Renê da Silva Nogueira Júnior, who confessed to firing the shot that hit and killed garbage collector Laudemir de Souza Ferreira on August 11, has a fascination for firearms. The information was confirmed by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) during a press conference on Friday afternoon (29/8), after the conclusion of the criminal investigation. At the time, the suspect was indicted for doubly qualified homicide – for trivial reason and means that hindered the victim’s defense – threats against the garbage truck driver, and illegal possession of a permitted firearm, facing a maximum sentence of up to 35 years. The businessman has been in custody since the day of the incident and will remain detained at the Caeté Prison in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizont.The investigation results were released 18 days after the homicide, which occurred on Modestina de Souza Street in the Bairro Vista Alegre, in the West Region of Belo Horizonte.
