Renowned Brazilian writer Luis Fernando Verissimo passed away at the age of 88 this Saturday (30) in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The Moinhos de Vento Hospital, where the author was hospitalized, announced that the cause of death was complications from pneumonia. He had been hospitalized since August 11 with a severe case of the disease. During this period, Verissimo remained in the ICU in a critical condition. Verissimo had been married to Lucia Helena Massa since 1964, and together they had three children: Pedro, Fernanda, and Mariana.
