The banking infrastructure company Sinqia suffered a hacker attack on Friday night, in the environment where Pix transactions are carried out. The company confirmed the cyber intrusion. According to the Neofeed website, the attack reportedly diverted $400 million from HSBC accounts to fronts. Another affected fintech, Artta, confirmed the attack. When approached, the Central Bank (BC) and HSBC did not respond until the publication of this note. The suspicion of fraud involves the Pix system. According to Estadão/Broadcast, the attack targeted a figure much higher than the $400 million moved. In any case, over 80% of the amount actually diverted has already been blocked. Once the investigations are concluded, the funds will be returned. According to Sinqia, the intrusion affected a limited number of financial institutions to which it provides services and only affected the Brazilian operation. Investigations are still ongoing.
