Damares visits Bolsonaro for 2 hours, but avoids having car searched

Senator Damares Alves (Republicans-DF) visited former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) on Monday morning (9/1), at his home in Brasilia. The visit lasted two hours. Damares left the premises without having her car searched by the Federal District Prison Police, as ordered by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, the judge overseeing the cases against the former president in court. The vehicle was not searched because it did not enter Bolsonaro’s garage. The driver dropped the senator off at the front door of the residence and went to wait on another street in the condominium until the visit was over. Additionally, at the end of the visit, the former president insisted on escorting Damares to the door of the house, so that it could be publicly seen that he returned inside after her departure. Damares’ visit to Bolsonaro included prayer and cake. During the visit, according to reports, Bolsonaro and Damares chatted, told jokes, and prayed together. Michelle Bolsonaro, a friend of the senator, former first lady, accompanied the visit. Bolsonaro and Michelle served cake to Damares. Although she could have stayed until 6 p.m. at the location, Damares did not wait to have lunch with the couple, as she had other commitments.
