After protests in Indonesia, at least 20 people are missing

According to the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS), ‘after searches and checks, 20 missing persons are still missing.’ The protests began on August 25 in Jakarta, when election results were announced. What started as peaceful demonstrations turned violent, leading to clashes between protesters and security forces. The situation escalated, resulting in injuries and reports of people missing. The human rights organization also expressed concern about reports of excessive use of force by security forces during the protests.
