President Trump stated on Tuesday (2/9) that US military had attacked a boat that had reportedly left Venezuela carrying drugs. In a speech, Trump mentioned the action took place in the Caribbean Sea and the vessel was carrying ‘a lot of drugs’, with more information to be revealed later. He stated that the country continues to receive many drug shipments, pointing out that ‘many of them come from Venezuela’. Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed the statement on X (former Twitter), calling it a ‘lethal attack’. ‘The President of the United States just announced that today the US Armed Forces carried out a lethal attack in the southern Caribbean against a drug boat that had left Venezuela and was operated by an organization designated as a narcoterrorist,’ Rubio wrote on social media.
