What is Venezuela’s true military power in the face of the ‘threat’ from the United States?

Russian fighters, Iranian drones, French tanks, and an old German submarine: Venezuela has 343,000 men and women in arms and outdated equipment in its Armed Forces to face a -very unlikely for now- invasion by the United States. The regime, under Hugo Chavez, heavily invested in military acquisitions from Russia and other countries, boosting the country’s military capabilities. However, with the crisis in Venezuela and international pressure under Nicolás Maduro’s mandate, the military may not be as formidable as it once was. The presence of foreign military equipment adds to the complexity of the situation.
