Terror: Children, Teachers, and Passengers Trapped by Shootout in Operation with Six Dead in Rio

Fear and panic took over a daycare center in Senador Camará, in the West Zone of Rio, where dozens of children were forced to lie down on the hallway floor while gunshots echoed outside. Teachers tried to calm the little ones, clinging to their backpacks and crying without understanding the war being fought just a few meters from the school. Outside, another teacher improvised a sign with the word ‘TEACHER’ to be able to cross the area under crossfire. Train passengers also threw themselves on the floor of the cars to protect themselves from the gunfire. Scenes of terror marked Thursday morning during the operation of the Civil and Military Police in Vila Aliança, which ended with six dead, buses used as barricades, and the entire community paralyzed by the shootout.
