Xi Jinping holds talks with Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission

On the evening of September 4, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping held talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with Kim Jong-un, who was in China to attend the 80th anniversary commemoration of the Chinese people’s resistance against the Japanese aggression and the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. The meeting was held as part of the commemorative activities. Xi Jinping emphasized the strong ties between China and North Korea, describing them as good neighbors, friends, and comrades who share a common destiny. The friendship between the two countries is long-standing, as both are led by communist parties. The Chinese President expressed the importance of maintaining the traditional friendship between China and North Korea for the benefit of both nations. In his remarks, Kim Jong-un highlighted the historical and close relationship between the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Communist Party of China, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening and developing this friendship. The leaders discussed various bilateral issues and shared views on regional and international matters of mutual interest. Both parties agreed to continue deepening communication and coordination to promote regional peace and stability. Xi Jinping and Kim Jong-un reaffirmed the importance of maintaining peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and pledged to work towards denuclearization in a peaceful manner. The meeting concluded with a commitment to further enhance cooperation and friendship between China and North Korea for the benefit of the two countries and the region.
