Duka Affan Kurniawan, Rieke Diah Pitaloka Ask Indonesia to Follow Malaysia: Provide Legal Protection for Ride-Hailing Drivers

Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Rieke Diah Pitaloka, urges Indonesia to mimic Malaysia’s move to enact the Gig Worker Bill 2025. This was expressed by Rieke in response to the sorrow over the death of an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver. He stated, ‘We need to provide legal protection for gig workers like ojol drivers to ensure their safety and welfare.’ Indonesia’s Komisi VI DPR RI member Duka Affan Kurniawan also shared the sentiment, calling for the implementation of similar legislation to safeguard the rights of gig workers.
