Kaio Jorge, the Cruzeiro striker who was with the Brazilian national team, was deconvoked on Friday (5/9). The player suffered a muscle injury and now becomes doubtful for the classic that Cruzeiro will have on the next 11th, against Atlético, a game that secures a spot in the Copa do Brasil semifinals. The star-studded team won the first leg 2-0.
But how long will Kaio Jorge’s recovery take? When it comes to muscle injuries, the time for the athlete to be back in full activity will depend on the severity. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), in its statement, did not inform whether the injury is grade 1, grade 2, or grade 3. Midfielder Andreas Pereira, from Palmeiras, was called up to replace the Cruzeiro forward.
In cases of grade 1 muscle injuries, the recovery time may take a few days. However, more complex ruptures, such as grade 3, can take months for the player to be ready for football matches again. Factors like treatment effectiveness and each organism’s individual response also influence the recovery process.
Kaio Jorge will be assessed again by the Cruzeiro Medical Department as soon as he arrives in Belo Horizonte. The player is the top scorer of the Brazilian championship, with 15 goals, statistics for the season that earned him his first call-up by Italian Carlo Ancelotti.
Earlier on the same Friday (5/9), midfielder Matheus Pereira was another Cruzeiro athlete to become doubtful for the classic against Atlético. The player felt a muscle discomfort in his left calf during the morning training at Toca da Raposa 2.
This season, Matheus Pereira has played in 34 Cruzeiro matches, scoring five goals and providing eight assists to his teammates.
