BEIRUT, Lebanon, Sept. 5 (UPI) — The Lebanese Cabinet announced on Friday its approval of a plan developed by the Army aimed at disarming Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran. However, the Cabinet decided to keep the specifics of the plan confidential, stating that the Army will start its implementation according to its availability and operational requirements. The decision was made following a meeting where key officials discussed the sensitive issue of disarming the well-armed Hezbollah group without stirring up further tension.
