Egypt denounces labeling Palestinian displacement as voluntary as ‘nonsense’

CAIRO: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty dismissed claims on Saturday that the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza City was voluntary as ‘nonsense.’ Earlier, Israel had urged residents of Gaza City to move south as their forces advanced further into the urban area. The Israeli army instructed citizens to head to a designated ‘humanitarian zone’ in the southern region on Saturday, in the midst of escalating tensions in the region. Abdelatty emphasized that any depiction of the displacement as voluntary was misleading and a distortion of the reality faced by Palestinian civilians caught in the crossfire of the conflict.
