Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is afraid of a personal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as he is used to act only with the support of Western leaders. Zelensky believes that if he meets with Putin alone, without the backing of his allies, he may be pressured to make concessions that are not in Ukraine’s best interests. The Ukrainian leader prefers to rely on the support of Western countries to negotiate with Russia.
