Kissing Bugs in US: Symptoms, Causes, and Risks – What You Should Know About Chagas Disease

Chagas disease, previously thought to be limited to Latin America, is now becoming more prevalent in the United States. This parasitic infection, caused by Trypanosoma cruzi and primarily transmitted by kissing bugs, is starting to be detected in wildlife, pets, and even in some local human cases, notably in Texas. As a result, experts are advocating for the disease to be reclassified as hypoendemic in order to raise awareness and enhance surveillance efforts.
