Poland has deployed its own jets and those from NATO countries to protect the country’s airspace after Russia launched attacks on regions in western Ukraine, near the Polish border. The aircraft took off in the early hours of Wednesday (10) local time — Tuesday night (9) in Brazil.
The operation led to the closure of some airports in Poland, including Warsaw’s. “Polish and allied jets are operating in our airspace, while ground-based anti-aircraft defense and radar reconnaissance systems have been put on high alert,” the Polish Armed Forces operational command reported on X.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force claimed that Russian drones had entered Polish airspace and posed a threat to the city of Zamosc. However, the message was deleted from Telegram shortly after. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, much of the country, including regions near the Polish border, was on high alert overnight.
Ukrainian media also reported that Russian drones crossed the Polish border, but the information was not officially confirmed.
