JOHANNESBURG (AP) — In a significant ruling, a court in Johannesburg handed down sentences of 20 years in prison to seven Chinese nationals for their involvement in trafficking individuals from Malawi and coercing them into working at a factory in South Africa. The sentencing took place on Wednesday following the group’s conviction on February 2nd. The court found the defendants guilty of exploiting vulnerable individuals from Malawi, subjecting them to forced labor in dire conditions.
