What started as a protest quickly escalated into widespread public resistance against the country’s political elite, culminating in the resignation of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on Tuesday. On Monday, clashes between protesters and security forces left at least 19 dead, further enraging the protesters who set fire to the country’s parliament building and several prominent politicians’ residences on Tuesday.
