Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil had started a fast unto death at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan. This protest led to the creation of a precarious situation in Mumbai, the financial capital of the country. The number of protesters increased day by day, demanding reservation for the Maratha community, affecting the normal life of the city.
On September 2, 2025, after the government issued an order approving the implementation of the Hyderabad Gazetteer, Manoj Jarange proclaimed victory and ended his protest. However, some OBC leaders have expressed anger and opposition to the government’s decision after agreeing to Jarange’s demands.
