Supreme Court has majority to convict Bolsonaro for criminal organization

Minister Cármen Lúcia, from the STF (Supreme Federal Court), formed a majority in the First Panel of the Court to convict former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and seven other defendants for criminal organization, due to their participation in what would be a coup plan against the outcome of the 2022 elections. With the minister’s vote, delivered this Thursday (11), the score is 3-1 regarding the crime. Only Cristiano Zanin’s vote remains, but there is no way to reverse the outcome in the Supreme Court’s First Panel for the conviction of the defendants for criminal organization. Cármen Lúcia’s vote also formed a majority to convict for criminal organization: Alexandre Ramagem, federal deputy and former director-general of Abin (Brazilian Intelligence Agency); Almir Garnier, rear admiral who commanded the Navy during Bolsonaro’s government; Anderson Torres, former Minister of Justice under Bolsonaro; Augusto Heleno, former Minister of the GSI (Institutional Security Office) under Bolsonaro; Mauro Cid, former aide-de-camp to Bolsonaro; Paulo Sérgio Nogueira, general and former Minister of Defense under Bolsonaro; and Walter Souza Braga Netto, former Minister of Defense and Civil House in Bolsonaro’s government, vice-presidential candidate in 2022.
