U.S. Blacklists Nearly 3 Dozen People, Firms Connected to Yemen’s Houthis

On September 12, the U.S. Treasury announced sanctions against approximately 32 individuals and companies believed to be part of a significant fundraising, smuggling, and weapon-procurement network that supports the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. These sanctions are aimed at disrupting the financial and logistical support provided to the Houthi group, which has been engaged in a prolonged conflict in Yemen. The Treasury accuses these individuals and entities of playing a key role in sustaining the Houthi rebels by providing them with the necessary resources to continue their activities. The sanctions are part of the United States’ efforts to counter the destabilizing actions of the Houthis and their supporters in the region.
