Significant Progress and Historical Achievements in the Construction of the Rule of Law in China

During the “Fourteenth Five-Year Plan” period, the National People’s Congress and its Standing Committee formulated 36 new laws and amended laws 63 times; the national courts have handled a total of 189.745 million cases; all levels of procuratorates have handled a total of 348,000 public interest litigation cases in the field of ecological environment. At a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on September 12, the Secretary-General of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, Yi Bo, stated that during the “Fourteenth Five-Year Plan” period, China’s construction of the rule of law has made significant progress and historical achievements, providing strong guarantees for the two major miracles of rapid economic development and long-term social stability.
