On September 5th, Lebanon’s government faced one of its most challenging issues yet as the army presented a plan to disarm Hizbollah, the Iran-backed and most powerful militia in the country. The reaction was immediate: Five ministers from Hizbollah resigned in protest, showing the deep divide within the government regarding the issue. Despite the resistance, the government is determined to move forward with the disarmament plan, aiming to tackle a problem that has not been successfully addressed before. Hizbollah, although weakened by internal and external pressures, still poses a significant threat to Lebanon’s stability and security.

Hizbollah is weakened, but not defeated. Now the government aims to do what no one has achieved before.
