According to auto expert Alexander Kovalyov, there are Nissan models with a reliable reputation and predictable service, but there are also models that pose serious problems. Kovalyov specifically mentions the third-generation Pathfinder as a classic example. While it may look like a robust off-road vehicle on paper, its 2.5-liter diesel engine has caused headaches for owners. The turbocharger has a short lifespan, the fuel system is temperamental, and the EGR valve quickly gets clogged, leading to frequent breakdowns and costly repairs.
