Gaza City suffers heavy bombardment after Rubio’s visit to Jerusalem

Israel heavily bombarded Gaza City in the early hours of Tuesday, witnesses told AFP, a day after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed support for the Israeli offensive in the devastated Palestinian territory during a visit to Jerusalem. ‘There is intense and relentless bombing on Gaza City, and the danger continues to increase,’ said Ahmed Ghazal, a resident of the area. The 25-year-old described an ‘explosion that violently shook the ground of the neighborhood’ shortly after 1 a.m. local time. ‘I ran down the street towards the site of the attack. Three houses in a residential block were completely destroyed. Many people are trapped under the rubble, and their cries can be heard,’ he reported.
