Paula Braun and Mateus Solano made a joint statement to reveal the end of their marriage on Tuesday (16). The former celebrity couple shared that they will remain friends to ensure a healthy environment for the upbringing of their children. They are parents to Flora, 14, and Benjamin, 10.
“With a tranquil heart, we come to announce that our relationship has evolved, and we have not been a couple for some time now. After 17 years together, we continue to preserve our partnership with care and a lot of love in raising our children, cheering each other on, and making future professional plans together. We continue our story, which does not end but transforms. We appreciate the affection, understanding, and especially for valuing our privacy and that of our children,” they wrote in the post.
Fans and friends of the former couple praised the way the announcement was made in the comments. One follower of the artists wrote, ‘How beautiful! An example of emotional and personal maturity!’ Screenwriter Renata Corrêa wished them ‘love and serenity in the new phase.’
Mateus Solano and Paula Braun are parents to Benjamin and Flora. The artists had been together since 2008 and have two children, Flora, 14, and Benjamin, 10, who occasionally appear in rare photos with their parents.
On social media, they were discreet about their relationship, preserving intimate family moments. With the end of the marriage, they asked for respect from their fans to maintain their routine on social media.
The couple met on the set of the short film Maridos, Amantes e Pisantes. Mateus replaced an actor who was supposed to play Paula’s character’s lover. In 2020, during an episode of the TV show ‘Tamanho Família,’ the actor revealed that he overheard the actress giving her number to the director and decided to copy it. That same day, he gathered the courage to make the first move.
During the show, Mateus also recalled their wedding party, which had an ecumenical ceremony due to their different faiths at that time. The actor is of Jewish descent, while Paula was a Catholic.
