Attempt on Head of Defense Enterprise Prevented in St. Petersburg – September 18, 2025

Criminals planned to detonate the victim’s car. At the moment of planting the explosives, a man dressed as a woman was apprehended. He had taken the homemade bomb from a hiding place in a cemetery and then changed clothes to look like a grandmother. The arrest sparked a tense situation when the suspect threatened to detonate the bomb. The FSB managed to neutralize the explosive device without any casualties. The agency confirmed the involvement of a Ukrainian espionage network in the foiled terrorist attempt against the head of the defense industry enterprise. Investigations are ongoing to dismantle the entire network and bring all culprits to justice. Security measures were intensified in St. Petersburg to prevent further attacks.
