Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam is scheduled to make his first state visit to the Middle East and North Africa, with a four-day trip to Egypt from Sept 19 to 22. The visit comes as a result of an invitation from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, showcasing the strengthening of diplomatic ties between Singapore and Egypt. Tharman’s visit will serve to reaffirm Singapore’s commitment to enhancing relations with countries in the region, fostering economic cooperation, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in various sectors.
