US Judge orders deportation to Algeria or Syria of student who participated in pro-Palestine acts

Mahmoud Khalil’s lawyers stated they intend to appeal the deportation order, citing separate decisions from a federal district court that currently prevent the government from deporting or detaining him immediately during his federal process. Comans also mentioned that the young man ‘deliberately misrepresented material facts for the sole purpose of circumventing the immigration process and reducing the likelihood of his application being denied’. Despite Khalil holding a green card, the Trump administration has been seeking the deportation of the 30-year-old since March, alleging that non-US citizens who participate in such protests have a purportedly anti-Semitic stance and should be expelled from the country.
