A powerful magnitude-6.1 earthquake struck the easternmost region of Papua in Indonesia early on Friday, September 19, 2025, resulting in scattered damage in a coastal town. Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of casualties. The town of Nabire, where at least two houses and the main bridge were affected, was at the epicenter of the seismic activity.
