Stepfather arrested for keeping stepdaughter in captivity for 22 years, impregnating her, and filming rapes in PR

A 29-year-old woman managed to escape after spending 22 years in captivity and suffering abuse from her stepfather in Araucária, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. The case was reported on Tuesday (16). The 51-year-old man was arrested on the spot, according to the Civil Police. The abuses started when the victim was 7 years old, at a time when her mother was in a relationship with the suspect. The crime was considered one of the ‘most barbaric’ by the investigating officer. ‘The crimes occurred when she was a child. She was the wife’s daughter of this man, she was his stepdaughter. She was abused daily. And they are serious abuses,’ detailed the delegate. During investigations, the Civil Police confirmed that the victim managed to escape. She told the man that she needed to take the children to a health post. At that moment, she went to a police station. The three children of the woman are the result of the abusive relationship. She became pregnant for the first time at 15 and, at 16, was forced to marry her stepfather. ‘After that, she started living alone with him, he went from stepfather to husband,’ he added. ‘According to the victim, he was always a very aggressive man. He beat her mother, and there are other witnesses who witnessed an attempted femicide against her,’ he said. The delegate informed that the man forced the victim to have sexual relations with other men and recorded the abuses in videos and photos. At the time, she was 14 years old. The house where he was arrested was equipped with security cameras used to monitor her routine. ‘He made her have sexual relations with other men, always against her will. And if, during the relation, she did not show pleasure or if the other men said they did not feel pleasure. If she did not show pleasure or if the other men said they did not feel pleasure, she was beaten,’ explained the delegate. The suspect is being investigated for seven crimes: vulnerable rape, rape, psychological violence, deprivation of liberty, stalking, threats, and emotional damage. The Civil Police is also investigating whether the victim’s children were abused. If convicted, the suspect could face more than 100 years in prison.
