Brazilian athlete Alison dos Santos won the silver medal in the final of the 400m hurdles event at the Athletics World Championships held in Tokyo, Japan. Alison, bronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics, finished the race with a time of 46.84 seconds. Rai Benjamin from the United States claimed the gold medal with a time of 46.52 seconds, while the bronze went to Qatari athlete Abderrahman Samba with a time of 47.06 seconds. The biggest surprise of the race came from Karsten Warholm, the double Olympic champion, who stumbled over a hurdle and finished fifth with a time of 47.58 seconds.
