UN Security Council votes in favor of resuming sanctions against Iran

The governments of the ‘European troika,’ also known as E3, pointed out that Tehran has violated its commitments under the historic 2015 nuclear agreement, which Iranian authorities consider void due to the US unilateral withdrawal in 2018. The decision to resume sanctions against Iran was supported by the UN Security Council, with the US arguing that diplomatic efforts are still possible despite the measure. Dorothy Shea emphasized the importance of holding Iran accountable for its actions while leaving space for diplomatic solutions. This move comes amid escalating tensions between Iran and the international community over its nuclear program.
