Timor-Leste’s Prime Minister, Xanana Gusmão, announced today that Timor-Leste and Indonesia will hold the first formal round of negotiations on maritime border delineation next month. “Between December 8 and 10, the first formal round of maritime border negotiations with Indonesia will take place,” Gusmão told reporters upon his return from a trip to London, where he attended a strategic meeting with the British government. This marks a significant step in resolving longstanding maritime border disputes between the two neighboring countries.
