Chamber denies opposition’s request for Eduardo Bolsonaro to be minority leader

The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), denied on Tuesday (23) the appointment of deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), who has been in the United States since the beginning of the year, as the minority leader in the House. In a maneuver to try to save Eduardo’s mandate, the opposition decided to appoint him as the minority leader in the Chamber last week. The idea was for the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to take the place of deputy Caroline de Toni (PL-SC). The possibility of appointment had been anticipated by CNN analyst Julliana Lopes. The opposition’s move took into account the flexibility of counting absences for Congress leaders who are on an ‘authorized mission’ abroad.
