The French President, Emmanuel Macron, called the American leader, Donald Trump, from the streets of New York on Monday (22), after he and his convoy were prevented from crossing a route that was blocked for the presidential convoy. Images recorded by the French channel BFMTV showed Macron talking to a police officer and making the call to Trump immediately after. ‘I’m sorry, Mr. President, I’m really sorry,’ the clearly embarrassed police officer said. ‘Everything is blocked right now. There’s a convoy coming in.’ Watch the video of the moment: ‘If you don’t see it, let me through. I’ll negotiate with you,’ Macron joked, in a light-hearted reference to the negotiations in which he and other leaders will be involved this week during the United Nations General Assembly.
