The Rising Wave of Recognizing Palestine: America’s Decline and the Fragile Abraham Accords

Saudi Arabia and France’s efforts to achieve a ‘two-state solution’ have successfully led nine Western countries to recognize Palestine at the United Nations annual meeting in New York. Due to US support for Israel and Israel’s view that Palestinian statehood poses a threat, Israel, under the leadership of the Trump administration, has become more isolated. Palestinians are faced with two options: either emigrate abroad or accept local authorities resembling tribal or clan chiefdoms not under Palestinian Authority jurisdiction, but under the control of the occupier. The shifting positions of Western and Arab countries signify a significant change in the global balance of power and strategic landscape, reflecting America’s decline and the rise of other major powers. However, this trend may witness a temporary rise in US power followed by a more substantial decline.
