During a meeting with the foreign ministers of BRICS, Indian External Affairs Minister (EAM) Jaishankar highlighted the significant challenges posed by increasing protectionism, volatile tariffs, and non-tariff barriers affecting trade worldwide. He stressed the importance of the BRICS nations coming together to protect the multilateral trading system. Additionally, Jaishankar participated in the foreign ministers’ gathering of IBSA, a group comprised of India, Brazil, and South Africa, stressing the need for collective action against trade attacks faced by the BRICS member countries.
