BRICS nations, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, have voiced their apprehension regarding the increasing use of tariffs and coercive measures that pose a threat to global trade. The countries highlighted the negative consequences of such practices, emphasizing the potential marginalization of Global South nations and the disruption of international trade flows. The discussions took place during a meeting hosted by India, set to assume the BRICS Chair position in 2026. Minister Jaishankar stressed the importance of upholding multilateralism and advocated for reform within the United Nations system.
