Palmeiras issued a statement on Saturday afternoon criticizing the legal action taken by Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro to block part of the funds related to the broadcast rights of the Brazilian Championship. The club accused Flamengo of acting “predatorily and deceitfully” by attempting to “financially suffocate” the other institutions within the block. If the blockage continues until the end of the year, approximately R$ 230 million will be frozen and under dispute in court. So far, R$ 77 million has been frozen.
