Tharisa to Invest $547 Million in Underground Platinum Mine Project

Tharisa Plc, based in South Africa, has revealed its intentions to allocate $547 million towards an underground platinum group metals mining project over the next ten years. The company aims to transition its current depleting open pit PGM and chrome co-producing Tharisa mine located in South Africa’s Bushveld complex to underground mining by the end of the decade. This move is based on the belief that these metals will play a crucial role in the global transition towards cleaner energy technologies. The company expressed optimism in the potential of the underground project, stating that it represents a natural progression in their operations.
