Flamengo has called a meeting of the Deliberative Council for a presentation on Libra. The meeting will take place on October 7th, at 6 pm, in the Salão Nobre at Gávea. According to the statement, the club will address the ‘existing controversies’ in the group’s statute regarding the criteria for revenue distribution. The topic has generated significant debate in Brazilian football in recent days. President Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, will present the details of the dispute and the next steps of the board to the council members. The expectation is that the meeting will serve to clarify the club’s arguments in the face of accusations from other presidents. Flamengo is unhappy with the 30% share of pay-per-view revenue to the audience. The club argues that the current division does not adequately recognize its ‘revenue-generating power,’ representing about 47% of the total Libra team fan base. As a result, Flamengo filed a lawsuit and managed to block the payment of R$ 77 million of a portion of the TV rights from Brasileirão that would go to the clubs belonging to Libra. The board claims it was harmed by the contract, signed in 2024 during the tenure of former president Rodolfo Landim. In response to Flamengo, Leila Pereira, president of Palmeiras, criticized the club’s stance. She also mocked the Rio de Janeiro club by calling them ‘terraflamistas’.
