CBF removes referees after controversies in Brasileirão matches

In an official statement, the Refereeing Commission of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced on Sunday (5) the removal of the officiating teams for the matches between Red Bull Bragantino and Grêmio and São Paulo and Palmeiras, both part of the Brasileirão. The entity stated that the professionals will undergo ‘training, improvement, and internal evaluation’ to potentially return to refeering in the Brazilian Championship in the future. Ramon Abatti Abel (central referee) and Ilbert Estevam da Silva (VAR) were the referees of the ‘Choque-Rei’ match who were removed by the CBF. Meanwhile, in the duel between ‘Massa Bruta’ and ‘Tricolor Gaúcho,’ Lucas Casagrande and Gilberto Rodrigues Castro Junior are the referees who will undergo a period of ‘retraining’.
