Iran has acquitted the German-French citizen Lennart Monterlos of the charge of espionage. This was reported by the semi-official news agency Tasnim, citing the chief of justice of the southern province of Hormozgan. The prosecutor had accused Monterlos of gathering information and photos from prohibited areas but the court found no evidence to support these claims. Monterlos was detained in June, but now he is free.
