JERUSALEM/CAIRO – The Israeli government officially approved a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, on Friday. This decision paves the way for hostilities in Gaza to be suspended within the next 24 hours. Additionally, the agreement includes provisions for the release of Israeli hostages currently held in Gaza, which must take place within 72 hours. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which began as a local dispute, has now escalated to involve regional powers such as Iran, Yemen, and Lebanon.
