Understand why a fire at a substation in PR caused a blackout in all regions of Brazil

During the early hours of Tuesday (14), a blackout affected all regions of the country. The electrical failure was caused by a fire at a substation in Paraná, which resulted in a disruption in the energy flow in some states, for a reallocation of energy loads. Apart from the Federal District, faults were recorded in all states, except for Alagoas, which did not confirm the occurrence. Minister Alexandre Silveira explained that the failure occurred due to a ‘specific electrical problem,’ and not due to a lack of energy.
