In 1988, Paulo received a script in which he was the killer and spoke to a reporter from the newspaper ‘A última hora’, from Rio de Janeiro, about the matter. The publication, in turn, featured on the front page on January 6, the final day of the soap opera, that the killer was Olavo, with the actor himself as the source. What seemed like a ‘scoop’ (news given firsthand) turned out to be nothing but a ‘blunder’ (an error, or, in modern times, fake news).
To O GLOBO, on January 7, Paulo explained that he received the text on Wednesday and gave an interview to the journalist, ‘an old friend’, who promised to publish it only on Saturday, when the identity would already be revealed.
‘I then found out that it was a joke to mislead the press. I don’t know if other actors also received false scripts. It was horrible to see the news on the front page of the newspaper,’ Paulo expressed.
The con artist, in 1988, who spent the soap opera scamming alongside César, ends up in prison. Consuelo (Rosane Gofman), who was having an affair with him before his arrest, is the only one who stands by his side. She visits him in prison, bringing cigarettes, cake, apples, and a newspaper.
