Indonesia to acquire 42 Chengdu J-10C fighter jets from China

Indonesia’s Defense Minister revealed on Wednesday that Jakarta is set to purchase a minimum of 42 Chinese-made Chengdu J-10C fighter jets, making it the nation’s initial non-Western aircraft procurement. This significant move underlines Indonesia’s diversification in defense partnerships beyond conventional Western suppliers. The Defense Minister, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, highlighted the strategic decision, emphasizing the importance of incorporating advanced Chinese military technology into the country’s defense capabilities.
