Truck Crash Leads to Marijuana Load Spilled on Minas Gerais Highway

A collision between trucks in the early hours of this Saturday (10/18) revealed a large load of marijuana being transported on the BR-251, at KM 333, in the municipality of Fruta de Leite, Northern Minas Gerais. In the accident, Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized an unspecified amount of marijuana bars. The crash occurred on a winding stretch known in the region as the ‘Curva do Piso,’ located in a rural area but on one of the country’s most important highways, which serves as a vital corridor connecting the Southeast to the Northeast. The BR-251 has historically been used by criminal organizations for the flow of drugs, weapons, and contraband between the South, Midwest, and Southeast of Brazil passing through MG.
