Indonesia signed an agreement on Tuesday to repatriate two British nationals, including a seriously ill grandmother on death row for more than a decade on drug charges, a minister confirmed. With some of the world’s strictest drug laws, Indonesia has recently shown leniency towards foreign nationals convicted of drug offenses. Lindsay Sandiford, a British citizen in her late 60s, faced the death penalty in Bali since 2013 for trafficking cocaine. Her reprieve marks a significant development in her case and brings hope for her release in the near future.
